Mercedes S. van Woerkom

Mercedes van Woerkom joined Raymond James in 1989 and has served in various capacities, most recently as chief operating officer – equity research and as the managing supervisory analyst for the department. In her current position, she provides guidance for the department’s research associates and associate analysts in the U.S. and oversees the team reviewing and approving the equity research product. She is an active member of the firm’s Capital Markets Commitment Committee and has served as the executive sponsor of Raymond James’ Hispanic Network and the Global Equities & Investment Banking Diversity & Inclusion Council. Outside of the office, she serves on the board of the St. Petersburg City Theatre, the oldest community theatre in Florida, and is a puppy raiser for Southeastern Guide Dogs.

Prior to devoting her full energies to her current role, van Woerkom was a publishing analyst covering business services and was among the first analysts on Wall Street to identify the professional employer organization industry and publish regular research detailing the morphing of the industry. She earned a B.S. in finance from the University of South Florida and an MBA from the University of Tampa.
