Raymond James hosted its sixth Capture the Flag (CTF) cybersecurity challenge on October 22, welcoming teams of students from 14. The annual event, aligned with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, is designed to educate and develop students’ skill sets while also introducing them to Raymond James’ culture.

Participating universities included the University of Central Florida, University of Tampa, Utica College, University of South Florida, Florida Tech, Florida State University, University of Memphis, The Johns Hopkins University, Purdue University, College of Charleston, St. Petersburg College, University of Florida and Saint Leo University. The CTF went global this year, welcoming for the first time a non-U.S.-based university to the event – the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Congratulations to this year’s winning teams!

Third place: Purdue University

About the CTF

The teams worked throughout the day to complete multiple challenges based on real-world threat scenarios facing firms in the financial sector. The event was a collaboration between IT and campus recruiting to help generate a pipeline of high-caliber information security talent nationwide.

During the event, students were evaluated on core Raymond James behaviors, such as subject-matter passion, teamwork and collaboration. In addition to providing a hands-on educational opportunity, the CTF helps to identify top information technology (IT) students for our IT Accelerated Development Program (ADP) roles, as well as internships.

A special thank you to participating schools and faculty, as well as this year’s event sponsors:

  • Principal sponsors: NetSPI, Intel, Insight
  • Major sponsors: Cyber Florida, Protiviti
  • Contributor sponsors: Citrix, Box, Optiv, Alchemy Technology Group
  • Supporting sponsors: Zoom, Proofpoint
