What drew you to Raymond James?

Being from the St. Petersburg area, I have always heard great things about the company culture at Raymond James. I also knew the firm as a top employer in Tampa Bay. With that in mind, I immediately applied for this marketing internship when I saw the Raymond James booth at my university’s career fair.

What has been the most exciting aspect of this internship development program?

I worked on a project to determine the valuation of brand exposure at Raymond James Stadium, which allowed me to incorporate two of my passions: sports and marketing.

What does your day to day look like?

My typical day consists of attending meetings and working on projects. After signing in to my computer at 8 a.m., I check my emails and calendar to see if I have any meetings for the day. I then continue working on my current projects or check the intern portal for new jobs. Every other Tuesday, I have a check-in meeting with my mentor where we talk about my progress and whether I need help with anything. Every Friday, all the interns meet to share our progress on our website migration project.

What’s been your experience as an intern in a virtual environment?

It’s been great. I believe the quality of my work would be the same in person. While working remotely means we don’t get as much face-to-face interaction, which I think is important, I have still enjoyed our virtual environment.

What has been your biggest takeaway so far?

This marketing internship has validated my passion for marketing. Everyone in our department has been very helpful and friendly, providing guidance on everything from networking to taking on projects. Having conversations with department leaders has also been a great experience.

How has this internship program helped advance your personal and professional development?

Aside from having the opportunity to ask questions, interact with marketing professionals and learn how to refine my resume, this internship has allowed me to participate in professional development meetings with senior leaders. That has been deeply informative and exciting. Each of the projects I’ve worked on has also played a major role in my development, since they are all centered on accomplishing department goals rather than busywork.

Do you have additional thoughts you would like to share regarding your internship or any of your projects?

Applying the knowledge I’ve gained in school to real-life marketing projects has been very rewarding. This internship showed me I can complete high-level work and have fun doing it. It’s been great working with my fellow interns, and I look forward to all my future holds at Raymond James.
