Review

Rating: 8

I’m roughly three-quarters through this work and I do enjoy it. It’s very dense with detail and narrative, but excellent in quality. Dickens is an amazing writer. Great Expectations is my first foray into his work and so far I’m very pleased. When I’m through I’ll post an actual review.

UPDATE: I’m finally done. What a masterpiece. It’s so dense, yet so easy to read. It’s language and style is so different from what we’re used to today, yet it’s amazingly poignant and relevant. Dickens really wrote a “great” book (sorry for the pun). My copy of the book has a quote from George Bernard Shaw: “No story in the first person was ever better told.” Well, he’s right. Wow.
