Volunteer

Sometimes the best work comes not from what one has to do, but rather what one wants to do. Volunteering is essential to one’s growth as a person. Unfortunately, there never seems to be enough time for it. I have managed to work on some projects on a volunteer basis, which are outlined here.

Librivox

I’m just getting started volunteering with this online community. It’s exciting to contribute to the vast project that is Librivox. In a nutshell, Librivox aims to convert the vast library of public-domain literature, poetry, and prose into audio format. So far I’ve contributed readings of two short stories in a horror collection. You can see a list of everything I’ve recorded for Librivox—and, of course, listen to any of them!

I’ve also written posts about Librivox.

Food Lifeline

Food Lifeline is non-profit agency dedicated to ending hunger in Washington state. I’ve volunteered with Food Lifeline since 2003 participating in food repacking and manning their information booth at local events. Some of the larger-scale involvement has included serving as team leader for the National Association of Letter Carrier’s annual food drive since 2004 and a sixth-month stint as a marketing assistant.

Sound Music Publications

There’s a lot to say about this site: its goals, back-end design, aesthetics, etc. For now, a simple link to the site will have to suffice.
